How does a $125,000 bail get discounted to $40?

I don't understand it. She sounded like Judge Mom to me. My mom liked to break down her kids tho'.

I never bunked my mom outta $125,000 or been on trial for multiple murders. That line was what I got if I didn't do my chores. Then a stiff beating and bed with no dinner.
